Deposition is the act of taking and recording of testimony of a witness under oath before a court reporter in a place away from the courtroom before trial.  In short it is a pretrial interrogation of a witness usually conducted in a lawyer’s office.  Once the depositions are taken in question answer form, it runs into pages.  The attorneys have to read the entire transcript which involves facts and non relevant details which results in the attorneys spending more time.

Format: 

We can follow the 20:1 or 10:1 summary thumb rules. For example, in a 20:1 format, a 200 page deposition transcript is summarized in nearly 10 pages. All summaries are written in complete sentences, with no abbreviations or contractions, and include page/line references and topic headings. A table of contents may be optionally included.
